There is a rhino in the art room!

The 7th graders studied Albrecht Durer's "Rhinoceros" last week. We discussed the texture that he added. They then had to create squares with their own textural designs and then to put that into a value scale. The students were able to look at handouts, zentangles, their devices, etc. to get ideas. We even had a "museum walk" (where I let them stand up and walk around the room to see what other friends are creating). This inspired them.

They took the textures and added them to their animals that they drew. They added watercolor as a final step. The results were fantastic.
