I can't get enough...
These 6th graders are just amazing. The little folks have come around since the beginning of the year. They love this hands on project and are working so hard. Please see below for MORE pictures of their Alebrije Mexican Folk Art. They will be presenting these today along with their stories!

More 6th Grade Alebrijes!
These sculptures are coming along beautifully! The students really are getting the concepts of sculpture and form down with this project. They are now working on covering them with various bits and pieces of colored paper. They will add their details on with paint!

Fantasy Alebrije Creatures!
The 6th graders are in the process of making their Fantasy Alebrije Mexican Folk Art Creatures! They are having so much fun creating the armatures out of cardboard, tape, and newspaper, and then they are using the paper mache to harden the creatures (and to make them smooth). We are using colored paper and also paint. They may bring in extra items to add when finished (yarn, cloth, etc.).
Not everyone LOVES the way that paper mache FEELS! :)
