Edward Hopper: All American

If you think about classic American painters, Edward Hopper comes to mind. He created the famous "Nighthawks" (below) as well as many other wonderful, lonely or desolate scenes.

After the 8th graders have learned how to draw in two-point perspective in 7th grade, I go over the techniques again in 8th grade as well as some information on three-point perspective.

Seeing as we have an abundance of free cardboard around my magical little school, I decided that would be our canvas. These did not get finished in their entirety, as these images are old, but you get the idea...perspective drawing on cardboard, colored pencil for the houses, and acrylic paint for the background.
