The 7th grade students studied about Henri Matisse and then we looked at some images from a modern artist, Angie Pickman, who has a company called "Rural Pearl." Her work is amazing... such exquisite detail! The students were quite impressed, and it's a stark contrast from Henri Matisse's simplistic paper cutouts. This by no uncertain terms is meant to sound as if we are putting down Matisse's work! It is just amazing to look at different artists and different styles. Angie Pickman's work:
