Pottery Firing


This is the last week of school and many students were last minute at glazing their pottery. I am about to run another load shortly. Some of these portrait sculptures are funny and others are, well, quite disturbing! The nature of the middle school student is very interesting to say the least. I love these people... If you recall from earlier posts, the 8th graders worked on the portrait sculptures inspired by Robert Arneson. They studied and drew facial proportions and then created these clay pieces.





The seventh graders worked on their African coil pottery earlier in the semester. They had to incorporate an animal that represented themselves, or so the story goes...
