Sunny Days...

The students are ALL making the designs for the "Art in the Park" t-shirts for this upcoming year (2014). We already had a winner for this year's t-shirt design, and we are chomping at the bit to have another winner. Below are some of the amazing art pieces. We discussed graphic design as a career in some classes.

Art in the Park

This year, the students have the opportunity to participate in designing the 2014 t-shirt for "Art in the Park." This is an annual event that takes place at Hurricane Shoals Park, a local park that has a bridge, covered bridge, and a mill. At the festival, there will be art, food, and bluegrass music. Here are some of the latest entries. Forgive the sideways images. I have no control over my computer...
More to come:

The final 12 that were chosen to send in were:
Avery P., Robert M., Mattie C., Sara M., Lindsey K., Julie K., Hannah P., Sobe S., Tucker G., Miya P., Robbie H., and Jackson P. Congratulations to these winners!

Show that Art!

The Jackson County Arts Council had their first ever art show for middle and high school students.

Unfortunately, timing was bad and I was out of town for a wedding in Nashville for the opening weekend. We had many students who had art in the show (they are listed in a previous blog post), but the following students won awards, ribbons, certificates, and cash prizes. They were proud and I was proud of them. The art show snuck up on us this year with little warning. Next year, we will be better prepared!

Art in the Park

I am late this year at getting our "Art in the Park" together. I thought that I missed the date altogether. I was wrong. It is THIS weekend at Hurricane Shoals Park.  So, I just left a message with the person in charge and I am trying to get the art to her.  http://www.hurricaneshoalspark.org/artinthepark.htm

Buy some homemade ice cream and support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation while you're there.  It's good stuff!

Below are the pieces that should be entered. Please remember that we've only been in school for 6 weeks and we are still practicing the basics.

There are three more, but I could not get them to turn. I have posted them regardless...

This is a great time, it's free to park, free to enter, etc... There is a wonderful waterfall that children and adults can play in as well as a playground, miniature golf, art booths, ice cream and other food booths, and art from various schools. You might want to bring a change of clothes and a towel in case you decide to get wet!
