What's YOUR Personality??

The 8th grade students just completed their "Nine Square Personality Project" where they had to make 9 mixed-media creations that pertained to their emotions (abstract), things of interest, and/or physical traits. Most of them made three of each... They were to type or write a paper explaining the project. The results are always so interesting. As always, my lovely computer and/or the blogspot program turns the images no matter what i do. Lean your head sideways ;)

The student below, Clay, chose not to use multiple layers (watercolor, collage, etc.). He chose to make 21 light and quick sketches. They all pertained to his precious personality, things that he liked, funny things (the boy is super funny), the boat, the ocean, abstract, etc.

Brylie (below) chose to create three abstract emotions, three physical traits (eye, hand, and lips), and three things of interest (shopping, makeup, and food).

So Glad!!

Dr. Norton is especially happy to be back in the art room, as are the students. Our 8th graders are working on their 9 Square Personality projects. They have to create three abstract, three things of interest, and three physical traits. They can be drawings, collage, etc. (any medium, really). Below are a few images. More to come.

What is your personality type!?

The wonderful 8th graders have been working on their "9 Square Personality Project." They each got nine squares of 4x4" watercolor paper. They had to think of/create three squares that were abstract (tied to an emotion), three that were "things of interest," and three that were "physical traits." It was interesting to learn more about each student.

The students each wrote approximately a page paper about their pieces. They told what they created and why, what materials they used, what their favorite square was, what was the most difficult, etc. It was/is interesting to read them. Almost all of the artwork shown on the blog is displayed in the hallways here at JMS.

Three by Three by Three...

The 8th graders are working on their Nine Squares Personality projects, which are coming along nicely. They have to have three mixed media pieces of each topics; abstract/emotion, things of interest, and physical traits. Those parameters can be interpreted very differently and loosely! Forgive the sideways art...
