Fantasy Rooms
Currently, the 6th graders are working on very detailed drawing notes (yes, 3 days worth) with me. We looked at Vincent van Gogh's "Room at Arles"...
The students draw step by step with me for a few practice rounds before they are set free to create their own fantasy room. We learn how to draw shapes and letters in one point perspective as well as various kinds of furniture, floors, and other details that would go in a room. These are created on watercolor paper, are drawn in pencil, filled in with colored pencil (smaller furniture and such), and then the background is filled in with watercolor.
